Five (5) Tips for smashing your goals in the new year!
It's a New Year, New Decade and potentially the beginning of a new reality for you and us. In 2019, I was thankful for the health, happiness and experiences with family and friends. In 2020, I come in energized, charged and ready to capitalize on some of the foundational groundwork laid in 2020. There are many things I will do to achieve the reality of my dreams but here are five that I will share with you today:
Write down your goals and prioritize them. Rome wasn't built in a day and your goals won't be either. Take the time to earnestly think about your passions, desires and what you truly want this year and out of life. However, don't give yourself easy goals. Challenge yourself to be great!
Create daily lists with tasks. Write down what you will do every day to get to your desired destination and goals set in #1. For every goal, you don't achieve, move it to the next day or next week. I've been able to build events that have brought anywhere from 500 to 8k people like this.
Re-evaluate and level set. Every month, it's good to take an inventory of where you are at, how much you've progressed and how far you are advancing. Typically, I do this at the end of the month. You should be realistic about the time you have within your schedule. As a parent, with two boys and a very busy schedule, the reality is the time I have to myself is at a premium. Thus, I have to re-evaluate and levelset often.
Shout it out and tell your closest friends and family. Some people hold their goals and future destination close to the chest. They fear their ideas being stolen although. In some cases, this could be rightfully so although there is a steep chasm between idea and execution. However, I take a different thought process. When you voice your future path to your dearest friends and family, there is an accountability that follows. Every time you see them, they will invariably ask how your venture is going. If you are slacking, it will be a boost or reminder to get going. If you are progressing, it will feel good to share.
Celebrate your successes and milestones. Celebrate the progress, successes and milestones. If you are dilligent about your higher goal, the daily lists and you re-evaluate, you will have made significant progress. The pride which ensues with progress is contagious and should be spread. Remember you can do it. The only thing that stops you is you. Ok, that's it, my five.
Wishing you an amazingly terrific year with health, happiness and prosperity. May your future be so bright you need shades as your stare your goals down. As usual, signing off, humbly Lanre, 365 days a year.
