HUMBLE BEGINNINGS FOR THE RHODE ISLAND NATIVE
"Lanre" as he is known to friends and family is a native of Providence, Rhode Island. He is the son of Wahab & Bola Ajakaiye, West African immigrants from Nigeria. His work ethic and drive comes two parents who worked in factories to obtain their college degrees from Roger Williams and Johnson & Wales University in the 70's.
FAMILY & COMMUNITY
First and foremost, Lanre will tell you he is a father to two amazing boys (14 and 11), husband passionately connected to advancing youth in the community where he grew up. Lanre is a hometown story who lived in Olneyville before moving to the Elmwood section of Providence, RI. He attended St. Mary's on Barton Street (now Paul Cuffee) , played baseball in Silver Lake before attending Classical High School.
ALL STATE, HOMECOMING & HALL OF FAME AT CLASSICAL HIGH SCHOOL
At Classical, Lanre earned All State honors in Track & Field for hurdles and was selected by classmates to be Homecoming King. His hurdles record endures now over 25 years. In March 2020, he was inducted into the Classical Hall of Fame, record holder for 110 and 300 meter hurdles. Lanre still goes back to talk to youth, volunteer and talk to youth at his alma matter and other schools.
TALENT DEVELOPMENT EXCELLENCE, STUDENT LEADER AND CHANGE AGENT EARNING A FELLOWSHIP IN DC
After Classical high school, Lanre attend the University of Rhode Island completing with accolades such as: The Talent Development Academic Excellence award, semi-finalist for the Robert A. Rainville Student Leadership Award and The Minority Leader's Fellowship Program. The fellowship took him to Washington, D.C. where he split his time interning for Senator Jack Reed and BET Networks. During this time, Lanre would also earn Dean's list while on the URI track team as a student-athlete.
During his years at the University of Rhode Island, Lanre was an Orientation Leader, Vice President of Uhuru SaSa, Dj on 90.3FM, Resident Assistant (R.A.) and Assistant Coordinator for RA. He was a sophomore leader and part of the BSLG group which drove campus change which lasts until today.
RISING IN THE BIG APPLE & THE FORTUNE 50
Lanre would accept his first position at Fortune 50, Metlife where he rose to Top 14 in the nation for Group Auto & Home Sales being the youngest at the time. He would move to NY, NY and began a career in Manhattan real estate. Over the years, he would rise in successive prootions from an agent, general manager to the Director of sales helping to growth the company to over 200+ agents and beginning their sales division. He would earn the accreditation of broker writing a book in 2004.
FAMILY CALLS & THE WORLD AWAITS
Lanre would move back to Rhode Island to start a family in 2005. His first son was born in 2006. In 2012, Lanre attended Boston University where he earned his Master's in Business Administration, International Marketing Management. Lanre was formerly the Director of Marketing Operations for AAA Northeast - where he was promoted to areas of increasing responsibility -before accepting responsibilities at NFPA Global as the Head of Membership with concentration on the U.S., Latin America, Middle East and North Africa.
Lanre is a graduate of leadership Rhode Island as part of the NUII 2017 Class. He was voted Class Speaker by peers and Speaker of the House in simulation. He was part of the planning commitee in 2018 and in 2019 was co-chair of the program.
EDUCATION, EXPERTISE & SKILLS
Lanre holds a Master's in Business from Boston University with a specialization in International Marketing graduating with a 3.45 GPA. He received a Talent Development Academic Excellence award upon graduating from the University of Rhode Island as an undergrad. He was voted homecoming king of Classical High School in Providence, RI for high school graduate. Additional skills and expertise include: Agile Certification, Project Management & Six Sigma with experience working with the region's top as well as national brands.
Lanre has a over a decade of experience in marketing management and leadership. His knowledge spans strategy, lead generation, customer retention and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) honed from working in start ups in NYC to Fortune 50 firms like Metlife. He is currently Director of Marketing Operations for AAA Northeast. At AAA Northeast, he has helped to develop, build and efficently scale operations transitioning from legacy systems to best in class cloud based technology. The end result and goal is always member satisfaction and experience.
Within the Fortune 50, he has been awarded enterprise innovation awards (winning across 35k employees), divisional innovation awards, driven over 1.4MM in leads resulting in 140MM in new premiums with over 1.4B in deposits in domestic and international locations throughout Asia and Latin America. Before this, Lanre was ranked #2 in for sales nationwide with MetLife Group Auto & Home for sales and multiple conference qualifier. He has been licensed and has knowledge in Property & Casualty and Life Insurance.

THE NEW ENGLAND FAMILY FUN FESTIVAL [family & youth ]
Recognizing a gap in affordable, quality family events during April school break, Lanre built The New England Family Fun Festival from ground up. He acquired 15+ sponsors and offered an event that resembled Rocky Point indoors with quality educational offerings, performances, rides, games and entertainment at a low cost for families and the community.
Lanre handled the marketing strategy across radio, tv and print and execution of web, social, digital leading to overwhelming success drawing over 8,000+ people in its first year The New England Family Fun Festival occurred from 2014-2017 until the vendor providing rides retired and was held across 40k sq ft at the Rhode Island Convention Center.

RISE WOMEN'S LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE [ women & empowerment ]
Lanre is behind the marketing strategy across radio, tv and print and execution of web, logo, social, digital for The R.I.S.E. (Realizing Inspiration & Sustaining Excellence) Women's Leadership Conference. The Executive Director, leader of day to day operations and the yearly conference is Hilina D. Ajakaiye. In its first year of 2018, R.I.S.E sold out overcapacity to 587 attendees at The Rhode Island Convention Center, 5th floor. In its second year occurring on September 19th, 2019, 200+ additional professionals attended R.I.S.E. to another sold out event in the region's biggest venue.
R.I.S.E. (Realizing Inspiration & Sustaining Excellence) Women’s Leadership Conference brings discussion, thought leadership and sharing of best practices across: Health & Wellness, Financial Literacy, Women in Leadership, Women in Entrepreneurship and Mentorship & paying it forward.
Lanre built R.I.S.E. for the many women like his wife, Hilina D. Ajakaiye, who have a passion to support women leadership and empowerment -especially in young women. R.I.S.E Women’s Leadership Conference drives connectedness across multiple industries, business sectors and community with one of New England’s most diverse audiences of leaders, executives and influencers. Attendees and participants leave the event feeling inspired and engaged with new learnings, insights and connections.
